I grew up in Cebu City, surrounded by my beloved family who taught me the value of love, patience, and gratitude. Life growing up wasn’t always easy, but our home was always filled with laughter, stories, and food — the simple things that brought us together. I’ve always admired how food can connect people, and that’s where my passion for cooking began.
I’m studying Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) at Cebu Eastern College of Technology. I chose this course because I want to build a future in the culinary industry, learn about global cuisines, and gain the skills to work abroad. My favorite subject so far has been Kitchen Essentials, where I’ve learned about food preparation, kitchen tools, and safety. Every class brings me one step closer to my dream of becoming a cruise ship chef — combining my love for travel, cooking, and service.
Of course, the journey hasn’t been without challenges. My family has faced financial struggles, and continuing my education hasn’t always been easy. But I’ve learned to stay positive and patient, trusting that every hardship has a purpose.
That’s why the Pinoy Legacy Scholarship means so much to me. It has given me the chance to continue studying and to focus on my goals without worrying as much about finances. I’m deeply thankful for this opportunity — it’s helping me fulfill my dream of graduating and giving my family a better life. Someday, I hope to give back by supporting other students who are working hard to reach their own dreams, just like I am today.
